A basic guide (that covers most of what you need to know) can be found on the library's site: http://www.strath.ac.uk/jhlibrary/studyguides/bibliographicalreferencing/. My strong advice though is to sign up for My EndNote Web and let it worry about formatting your references. You have to sign in froma university machine using the institutional log in the first time you use it but thereafter you can sign in from anywhere. It works with Word (if you have it) and automagically inserts the references in the correct format. Might seem a bit complicated at first but trust me, it's worth the effort. Have a go with it on a practice document now (for example, copy a chunk from Bryce and Hume - but let Endnote format the references) so you can get a feel for it before you use it in an assignment.
